Exhibition galleries 

Monday, and Wednesday through Friday, from 10:00 AM to 4:45 PM
Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 7:45 PM (galleries open at 12:00 PM the second Tuesday of the month)
Saturday from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM 

Please note that the last admission for exhibition visitors will be 45 minutes prior to closing.

Library

Monday, and Wednesday through Friday, from 9:30 AM to 4:45 PM
Tuesday from 9:30 AM to 7:45 PM (the library opens at 12:00 PM the second Tuesday of the month)
Saturday from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM 

Staff retrieves materials up to 45 minutes before the library closes. Reading room closes 15 minutes before the library.

An advance appointment is strongly encouraged for all researchers. Please log-in to your Portal1791 account to select your preferred visit dates.

Upcoming Closures

  • The MHS library is closed Monday, 18 December, through Thursday, 21 December.
  • The MHS will close at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, December 19. Last admission for exhibition visitors is at 3:00 PM.
  • The MHS is closed Friday, 22 December, through Monday, 1 January.

Admission

The MHS is free and open to the public. All ages are welcome in the galleries; library readers must be at least 16 years of age or accompanied by an adult.
